About Me

Julia Coursey is a writer who often lives near a train station. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Alabama. Recently, their work has appeared in DIAGRAM, Moon City Review, Passengers, Sou'Wester, Booth, The Collagist, Joyland, and Psychopomp. She won the Gigantic Sequins 7th Annual Summer Flash Fiction Contest and stories of hers have been nominated for inclusion in the Pushcart anthology. They also have stories included in the Best Shorter Fictions anthology and The Anthology of Babel. Their work earned them a position as a 2021 Fulbright scholar to Hungary to conduct research for a novel about pseudo-translation. She has since actually translated some fiction from Hungarian.

Currently, Julia is seeking representation for a novel about whales, ghosts, and whales that are ghosts. This manuscript was longlisted for the Dzanc Books Prize for Fiction.
